1. Who operates WeatherToRide
WeatherToRide is currently operated in the United States by its individual founder and owner. References to “WeatherToRide,” “we,” “us,” or “our” in this policy mean that operator. Questions may be sent to contact@weathertoride.com.
2. Information the app uses
Location and trip information
When you allow location access, the app may use your device’s approximate or precise foreground location to show local conditions, search nearby places, calculate routes, and evaluate a ride. When you plan a trip, the app also processes the places, route, departure time, and expected return time you provide.
WeatherToRide does not need continuous background location for its current features and does not build a location-history timeline. Location is requested to answer the ride question you asked.
Saved content and preferences
Saved locations, saved rides, vehicle details, comfort preferences, appearance settings, and similar app settings are stored locally on your device unless a feature clearly says otherwise. Home and work locations can be sensitive; you choose whether to save them and may remove them in the app.
Technical information
Our infrastructure providers may process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as IP address, request time, device or browser type, error details, and aggregate request counts. We do not use this information to create a precise travel history.
Messages you send
The contact form opens your email application. Your message is sent through your email provider to WeatherToRide and is not first stored by this website. If you contact us, we receive the information included in your message and use it to respond, support the app, and improve the product.
3. How we use information
- Provide current and route-aware weather recommendations.
- Search for places and calculate routes.
- Apply your saved preferences and vehicle information.
- Diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
- Respond to support requests and product feedback.
- Comply with law and protect users, the service, and others.
4. Service providers
The app may send the minimum information needed for a request to providers including the National Weather Service for forecasts and alerts, Google Maps Platform for place and route functions, Cloudflare for network and application infrastructure, and Expo for app updates. Android distribution is through Google Play. Their handling of information is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
5. Retention
Device-local data remains until you delete it, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app. Support messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain support records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Provider logs are retained according to each provider’s settings and policies.
6. Your choices
You can deny or revoke location permission, avoid saving sensitive places, delete local saved content, change website theme and cookie choices, and contact us to ask about information you have directly provided. Some core recommendations cannot work without a location or trip location.
7. Children
WeatherToRide is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Security and international processing
We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet or device-storage system is perfectly secure. Providers may process information in the United States or other locations where they operate.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the app adds accounts, synchronization, analytics, subscriptions, or other capabilities. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when a change materially affects your choices.
